Holt to join Newton Prep coaching staff for this summer's camps
SCAC All-Conference selection and former Tomball Kings pitcher and infielder Clayton Holt will join the Newton Prep coaching staff for this summer’s baseball camps, which begin next Tuesday at the Premier Baseball of Texas Sports Complex in Tomball.
Holt recently completed a standout season on the mound for the LeTourneau Yellowjackets. He posted a 6–3 record while making a team-leading fourteen appearances and was named the team’s pitcher of the year. LeTourneau concluded its season in the championship game of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament.
During his time with the Tomball Kings, Holt excelled as a pitcher, shortstop, third baseman, and hitter. He was home schooled by his parents, Tom and Barbara Holt, on their family farm in Montgomery County. Their neighbor is Charlie O’Brien ’27, who starred for the Kings this past spring.

Holt’s college baseball journey also included stops at University of Texas at Tyler and Angelina College. After battling back from an arm injury, he emerged as one of LeTourneau’s top pitchers and brings valuable experience and perspective for young athletes working through the demands of player development and competition.
Newton Prep will offer five baseball camps this summer, serving players ranging from younger athletes to advanced high school competitors. The coaching staff includes former MLB pitcher Kevin Beirne along with Newton Prep high school coaches Tyler Taylor and Nolan Holland. All instructors have extensive college or professional baseball experience.
See the program guide for full details and registration information. Camps begin Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. and continue through August 5.
